I am a PhD student at the University of Pretoria, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Department of Production Animal Studies. I qualified with a DVM degree from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria in 2004 and obtained MSc (Veterinary Science) -Cum Laude from the University of Pretoria in 2014.
My MSc research focused on the effectiveness of FMD vaccination programme in cattle among smallholder communal farmers at the wildlife-livestock interface of the Kruger National Park, South Afria.
My PhD research focuses on the epidemiology, vaccination and control of FMD in cattle and goats at the Greater Kruger National Park Area, South Africa. It will involve the modelling of FMD outbreaks within the FMD Protection Zone with Vaccination, projecting the social network and trade pattern of livestock within the control zone and FMD vaccine clinical trials in goats.
I am also a founding member of the African Vaccinology Network (AfVANET)
