Postdoctoral researcher, induction of immune responses in pigs

The School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at University College Cork is seeking a highly skilled and motivated experienced Post-Doctoral Researcher, scientist or veterinarian, with expertise in vaccine-induced B cell responses to conduct research on understanding the induction of systemic and mucosal immunity in pigs. This SFI-funding project aims to understand the mechanism of action of two non-injected, thermostable, vaccine delivery technologies, administered by two different routes, at the anatomical, cellular and molecular levels in pigs.  We are particularly interested in mucosal immunity and the breadth of systemic and mucosal cross-neutralising responses.

The candidate must possess excellent communication, planning, organising, team working, practical, problem solving, and record-keeping skills. The Post-Doctoral Researcher must have a significant proven track record in publishing papers in peer reviewed journals with respect to mucosal immunity and/or vaccine-induced immunity in human and/or large animal pre-clinical models. Experience in examining vaccine-induced B cell responses, immune assay development, multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISPOT, functional antibody analyses, as well as in vivo potency is essential. Experience in veterinary immunology, particularly in pigs, is highly desirable.
