Research assistant, induction of immune responses in pigs
The School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at University College Cork is seeking a highly skilled and motivated experienced Research Assistant with at least 2 years of expertise in vaccines and/or veterinary immunology to support and conduct research on understanding the induction of systemic and mucosal immunity in pigs.
This SFI-funding project aims to understand the mechanism of action of two non-injected, thermostable, vaccine delivery technologies, administered by two different routes, at the anatomical, cellular and molecular levels in pigs. We are particularly interested in mucosal immunity and the breadth of systemic and mucosal cross-neutralising responses.
The candidate must possess excellent communication, planning, organising, team working, practical, problem solving, and record-keeping skills. The scientist must have a proven track record in supporting an immunology team focused on vaccine-induced immunity in human and/or large animal pre-clinical models. Experience in examining vaccine-induced immunity, immune assay development, multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISPOT, functional antibody analyses, as well as in vivo potency is essential. Experience in veterinary immunology, particularly in pigs, is highly desirable.
