Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Parasite Vaccines

The Moredun Group is recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our Vaccines and Diagnostics Department at the world-leading Moredun Research Institute. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary, industry-sponsored, team to develop a prototype recombinant vaccine against the poultry red mite, Dermanyssus gallinae. The approach will involve a reverse vaccinology pipeline for in silico antigen selection, gene silencing by reverse genetics and recombinant vaccine expression with in vivo testing.

Experience required

You will have a PhD in a related area (e.g. Molecular Parasitology; Vaccinology; Immunology) and experience with in silico analysis of nucleic acids and proteins, expression of recombinant proteins. Experience with in vitro gene silencing techniques, such as RNA interference (RNAi), would also be highly desirable. A passion for parasitology and the development of new approaches to control economically-important parasites is essential.
