The Pirbright Institute is partnering with Nurole, the leading board-level hiring platform, to find two new Trustee Directors to join its Board and a cyber security expert to become a committee member.
Committee member (Cyber)
The Institute seeks a Committee Member (Cyber) to join the Risk and Assurance Committee, who will be a cyber security expert to mitigate risks and advise on the Institute's cyber strategy.
The deadline for applications is midnight, 25 August 2024.
Candidates can expect to be contacted by 9 September 2024 and interviews will be held at Pirbright on Wednesday 25 September 2024.
The two Trustee Director positions available are:
- Trustee Director (Finance), a Finance & Audit Committee member
- Trustee Director (Communications)
Role Specification
- The Board of Trustee Directors is responsible for setting strategy, monitoring performance, and seeking assurance from the Senior Leadership Board (SLB) which, in turn, is responsible for the executive management of the Institute. All members of the Board are expected to contribute to all aspects of the Trustee Director’s responsibilities.
- The duties of a Trustee Director are to:
- Ensure that the Institute complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
- Ensure that the Institute continues to deliver excellent science, whilst maintaining biosecurity in a financial sustainable manner
- Ensure that the Institute complies with its objects and applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
- Contribute actively to the Board of Trustee Directors by giving strategic direction to the Institute and ensuring that this aligns with Pirbright’s funders, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed objectives
- Safeguard the good name, reputation, and values of the Institute
