Biography
Dr. V. Gowthaman is specializing in Epidemiology, pathogenesis and control of Poultry Diseases. Presently, he is engaged in teaching, research and implementation of the Poultry Health Management Programs including flock health monitoring, disease diagnostics, epidemiological surveillance and International collaborations. His has strong interest in understanding the epidemiology of Respiratory-Immunosuppressive disease complex, clinical poultry medicine, food safety and antimicrobial resistance in poultry industry. He has well established research links with UK for several years and recently completed three Indo-UK collaborative research projects, including BBSRC funded research scheme on Understanding the emergence of variant infectious bronchitis virus in chickens in UK and India: shared control strategies, DBT-ESRC funded scheme on Chicken or Egg: Drivers for Antimicrobial Resistance in Poultry in India (DARPI) and GCRF-UKRI funded multidisciplinary international scheme on One Poultry Health Hub. Dr. V. Gowthaman has been awarded with the WVPA-Zoetis Young Poultry Veterinarian Award in the year 2017 by the World Veterinary Poultry Association at Edinburgh, UK. He is one of the editors in Avian Pathology and member in UKRI International peer Review College. He acts as a reviewer in BMC Veterinary research, Veterinary Research Communications and Transboundary and Emerging Diseases. He has published 55 research papers in National and international journals.
