Japhet Senyo Kamasah is a Ph.D. Student at the Alabama State University.
Japhet completed his undergraduate studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Biological Sciences. For eight years, he worked with the severe typhoid in Africa (SETA) group which seeks to investigate the burden of severe typhoid in Africa. He played a key role in working towards the identification of immunological markers associated with typhoidal and nontyphoidal Salmonella infection in Ghana. He also elucidated the immunogenicity and safety of a typhoid conjugate vaccine among Chanaian children. As such, he acquired technical skills in performing immunological assays. He also acquired some fieldwork experience, taking samples from animals and doing PCR work as well for the detection of some viral and bacterial pathogens. currently, he is investigating biomolecules as key drug targets for the treatment of T. gondii infection
My research interests are a. Vaccinology with a keen focus on bacteria vaccine development for endemic countries b. Discovery of novel and potential biomarkers for parasites/bacteria.
