Biography

I am a veterinarian by training and obtained Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. In addition, I have completed two years of infectious diseases epidemiologic research fellowship program at the Center for Communicable Diseases in icddr,b ( formerly known as International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh), Dhaka. Bangladesh.

Currently, I am working as an assistant scientist at the programme for emerging infections in the icddr,b, one of world’s leading global health research institute based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which conduct innovative research that solve public health problems locally and internationally. My most of the works has been involving on zoonotic and emerging diseases in Bangladesh, for example highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1), swine influenza, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, zoonotic tuberculosis, rotaviruses, anthrax and antimicrobial resistance.

Research interests

My research interests include the application of epidemiologic methods and study designs to the investigation of zoonotic diseases effects of human-animal interactions on human-health wellbeing as well as testing potential vaccine in the field settings. My long term professional goal is to contribute to reduce the burden of vaccine preventable diseases in animals as well as human (particularly zoonotic diseases) in low income settings.
