Biography

Dr. Moses Okpeku holds PhD in the field of Genetics and Genomics. He had his postdoctoral training at Kunming Institute Zoology, Yunnan Province of China. His current research interests are in the application of genetics, genomics and bioinformatics in understanding the evolution of infectious disease, livestock domestication, improvement in food production and productivity, climate change and improved human welfare. Dr. Okpeku has over the years built international research experiences and collaboration across Asia, North America (U.S.A) and Africa. His research has been funded by grants and fellowships from international institutional sources including; United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Norman Borlaugs Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (LEAP), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), International Foundation for Science (IFS), Stockholm, Sweden, the Indian Government INSA-JRD-TATA Fellowship and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)

Research interests
Application of molecular, statistical and quantitative techniques, in understanding origin and diversification, evolution, genetics, ecology, behavior, and conservation of plants and animals Identification and evaluation of selection footprint in ecosystem diversity, migration, domestication, and adaptation. Application of genomics, bioinformatics, statistical and quantitative genetics in human, plants and livestock genetics Genomics of infectious disease parasites
