Shih-Chu Chen received his DVM from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at National Pingtung Institute of Agriculture at Pingtung, Taiwan, in 1979 and MS degree from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan, 1987. He received his PhD from the Aquatic Vaccine Unit, Institute of Aquaculture at the University of Stirling, Scotland, UK, in 1998. He has been a Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan since 2001. He was a Director and Professor in the Graduate Institute of Animal Vaccine and Technology and the Department of Veterinary Medicine at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan since 2005–2011 and 2005–2008, respectively. Currently, he is a Professor  and Dean in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. His research interests are in fish immunology, bacteriology of aquatic animals and vaccinology.
