I graduated in 2005 at the Veterinary School in Madrid, Spain, with a strong interest in production animals. To strengthen my skills in production medicine I completed a clinical internship and a residency program in food animal production medicine and surgery at the University of Florida. During this time my interest in pathogenesis and control of infectious diseases increased and decided to study for a Master’s degree in Veterinary Science, followed with a PhD at The Pirbright Institute to understand mechanisms of evasion of the innate immune response by Peste des petits ruminant virus. Ever since I have been working with several livestock viral diseases, including foot-and-mouth, bluetongue and more recently lumpy skin disease, focused in pathogenesis, vaccine efficacy and transmission of these diseases.
