Biography

Plant Pathologist and Research scientist experienced in plant biotechnology, viral disease resistance, plant tissue culture, RNA mediated resistance, molecular biology, academic teaching and scientific communication. Knowledgeable in plant virology, bacteriology and mycology, virus-vector interactions and experienced in plant virus transmission studies, virus evolution, molecular analysis, insect vector rearing and establishment of pure colonies. Skilled in capacity building through sessional academic teaching at the University level, supervised Msc students, and performed practical laboratory demonstrations in molecular biology classes, plant ecology and environmental studies, plant-microbe interactions and genetics. Spend spare time supporting community development, offering advice on agricultural technology transfer, agribusiness enterprise planning, small micro-enterprises, development of strategic plans and annual budgets, review technical reports and provide necessary recommendations. An international liaison with linkages in Canada, Australia and USA. Supports resource mobilization for research and community development and strategic planning and implementation of research and community development projects. Global expert with travels and work experience in USA (post-doctoral), Australia (PhD fellowship), Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Nigeria), China (conference) and Singapore (conference).
