I am an immunopharmacologist. During my PhD (at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad), I worked on the rational design of novel vaccine adjuvants, belonging to the lipopeptides, glycopeptides, and glycolipid structural class. As part of the program, a focused library of novel glycopeptides and glycolipids were generated whose structures were inspired by the scaffolds of standard adjuvants, such as muramyl dipeptide (MDP), alpha galactosylceramide (α-GalCer), phosphatidylinositol mannosides (PIMs), Quillaja Saponaria (QS-21) saponins, and other structural mimics. We studied the immunopharmacological activity of a total of 200 novel entities against recombinant viral and bacterial antigens. During my PhD, I was awarded a Raman Charpak Fellowship (24/01/2017 – 22/07/2017). The main intention of the fellowship was to carry out the part of PhD, study at Institut de biologiemoléculaire et cellulaire (IBMC), University of Strasbourg, France. Further, a short period of time (1 yr 6 months), I worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the same lab. During the post-doc, I have concentrated on one of the essential cellular homeostatic degradative pathways, i.e., Autophagy, in autoimmune diseases. At present, I am working (INSERM, Centre de Recherche des Cordeliers, Paris, France) on the development of next-generation flu vaccines under the Indo-European project “Effective and Affordable Flu Vaccines for the World”. In addition, I am also contributing to the understanding of the fundamental immunology aspects of “Interactive Immunity in COVID-19 (COVIMUNE: Étude de la immunitaire interactive dans COVID19)”.
