I am a Ugandan by nationality and a veterinarian by profession. My main research areas are parasitology and epidemiology, in particular tick-borne and helminths (worms) parasites. With my research team, I have studied the epidemiology and diversity of these parasites and their vectors in various African countries, and also developed or validated molecular diagnostic assays for improved detection and control. In my doctoral research at the University of Pretoria, I determined the epidemiology and diversity of tick-borne haemoparasites of cattle in a semi-arid pastoral area of Karamoja, Uganda, in order to improve control strategies. I am currently a research fellow at the University of Pretoria. My research involves using genomic approaches for vaccination, as a control method against anaplasmosis, an economically important tick-borne disease of cattle.

-Improving diagnostics for parasites
