I am a graduate of Veterinary medicine from the university of Nairobi.
Currently a graduate fellow at ILRI under the animal and human health where I am doing my research project for my masters thesis work.
I am a veterinary Microbiologist who is keen on Antimicrobial use and resistance and its drivers in a one health ecosystem.
Currently, I am undertaking a research project to establish occurrence of antimicrobial resistant campylobacter bacteria in young children, food and animals in Kenya.
Once I establish this occurrence I want to explore phage therapy as an alternative to the use of antimicrobial( antibiotics) as a way of preventing development of AMR super bugs.
I am involved in the urban foodscapes project hosted by ILRI which is aiming at understanding foodborne enteric infection among young children. The micro-organisms of target include: viruses (rotavirus, norovirus, adenovirus, Hepatitis B), Bacteria (campylobacter, salmonella, E.coli, shigella, C. difficile, V. cholerae) and parasites (Cryptosporidium, Giardia and Entamoeba histolytica)
