I am trained as a virologist and my work has combined molecular biology, evolutionary biology, and synthetic biology for the design of recombinant viruses which could be used to study how the virus adapt to novel hosts, but also the implications of altering these viruses for vaccine design. I have had one postdoc in South Africa, one in Sweden, and one in Norway. During these postdoc project I conducted my research, in addition to co-supervising Master (three) and PhD students (two). Now I work as a researcher at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI), where I am in charge of grant writing and conducting own research, but also I work as a work package leader for two large internal projects aimed at introducing capabilities in CRISPR and virus NGS sequencing at the NVI.
