I did my master’s specializing in Veterinary Microbiology and obtained my PhD in Virology from the University of Nottingham (UK). I am faculty position at the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals, Bangalore, India. My expertise spans in the areas of investigating the emerging and exotic diseases of livestock and poultry with a special focus on emerging and transboundary viral infectious diseases. Over the years, I have gained fair experience in handling veterinary disease outbreak scenarios. Served as a Govt of India team member for the investigation of the Nipah disease outbreak in Kochi, Kerala India. My lab has a Biosafety level-3 (BSL-III/P3) high containment virology laboratory facility for the diagnosis of highly pathogenic avian Influenza (HPAI) infections and other class 3 viral pathogens. My research interests include looking at the molecular aspects of avian and mammalian influenza virus biology, and studies on emerging viruses of veterinary importance lumpy skin disease (LSDV),Malignant Cattharal Fever (MCFV)African Swine fever and HPAI etc.
