Thandeka Khoza is Biochemistry lecture at School of Life Science at University of KwaZulu Natal. Her research is aimed at resulting in novel scientific approaches that can be used to diagnose and manage disease mechanisms at cellular and molecular level. She holds a PhD in Structural biology, which was aimed at understanding the folding mechanism and three-dimensional structure of GSTs. This enzyme is implicated in the cancer development and chemotherapeutic resistance. Prior to joining UKZN, she was at the National Health Laboratory, Centre for HIV and STIs as a SPARC Post-Doctoral Fellowship where she was part of a research team that focuses on HIV broadly neutralising antibodies and their interplay with the evolving virus. She has currently completed a Master in Vaccinology with University of Lausanne which has broaden her knowledge into how vaccines are designed, developed, manufactured and implemented through public health programs and subsequently developed a keen interest veterinary vaccine.
