I graduated as a Veterinarian from Universiteit Utrecht in 2006 and worked in veterinary practice before joining Prof Ivan Morrisons group for my Msc and PhD, at the Centre of Tropical Veterinary Medicine (CTVM) and the RosIin Institute respectively. After completing my PhD I worked at the Roslin Institute (UK), The Pirbright insitute (UK), the Centre of Livestock genetics and Health (CTLGH) (Roslin/ILRI - UK/Kenya) and the International livestock research institute (ILRI) in Kenya.
I am particularly interested in T cell immunology and have experience with a variety of pathogens including Theileria sp, swine influenza and African swine fever. Currently my main project is towards the development of a subunit vaccine against African swine fever, which includes immunological assays, vaccine design and testing of vaccine candidates using a genotype 9 ASF challenge model (Circulating in East Africa). Besides this I lead studies for the CRO at ILRI as CRO study manager.
