Biography
Clarah Khalayi is a diligent healthcare provider currently serving as a Study Clinician at Kemri-Wellcome Trust Research Programme. Born in Western, Kenya, she developed an early passion for science, pursuing a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery at Kenya Medical Training College and later completing a Higher National Diploma focused on Family Health. Throughout her career, Clarah made significant contributions to clinical research, particularly by supporting involving Malaria(Mal-Brain Study- RTS,S/AS01 Vaccine) and Epilepsy among other neurological conditions (EPINA Studies). Currently, Clarah works in research involving data science and neurological and non-communicable conditions, aiming to advance knowledge in machine learning for health. In addition to research, she studies for personal career development and actively mentor the next generation of scientists while working on assigned projects and collaborations. Her work has had been impactful within her team and will in turn, shape future innovations and collaborations.
Research interests
I have a strong interest in health economics, and gaining knowledge in vaccinology will enhance my understanding of the resources necessary to support scientists in this field. This combination will allow me to better assess and identify the tools, infrastructure, and funding required to meet the needs of researchers working on vaccines and public health initiatives.
