Biography
I am Theophilus A Jarikre, born in the Niger-delta region of Nigeria. I studied Veterinary Medicine with excellent grades and graduated with Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM) in the year 2010 from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. I developed special interest in infectious diseases and diagnosis, reason I went to graduate school to study for a Master degree and PhD in Veterinary Pathology. Currently am a researcher and academic in my country foremost institution. Research interests
My research interests have been on different pathogens including Mycotic, Bacteria, Viruses and Parasitic. In the course of these, I have developed hands on skill on all aspects of Microscopy, Microbiology, Necropsy, Cultural Isolation, Molecular amplification and Genome expression profiling etc. As a veterinarian, I have experience in handling laboratory animals and my training as a laboratory diagnostician has equally positioned me for routine laboratory assays and handling of major equipment used in the modern laboratory. Worthy of note, is my resent work on Blastomycosis and Histoplasmosis which are both systemic fungal pathogens. In addition, I have also attempted to investigate evolution and spread of antibiotic resistance (ABR) in pathogens which is now emerging as a global threat to public health
As part of my experience, I have served as a research assistant in wildlife diseases, teaching assistant in the department of pathobiology where I was saddled with the responsibility of undergraduate clinical teaching and laboratory demonstration, research assistant in veterinary pathology and recently a faculty member in the department of Veterinary Pathology where I teach and conduct research in the area of microbial diseases, specifically molecular biology of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance profiling for disease management. I have track record in conducting high- quality research, manuscript writing and publication in rated peer-reviewed journals. More so, I am interested in microbial virulence, pathogenesis and vaccine candidates.
