Biography
I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Stirling’s Institute of Aquaculture, currently focusing on the development of a vaccine to protect Atlantic salmon from infection with sea lice. I have several years of experience working towards the development of vaccines against ectoparasites including sea lice and sheep scab mites; and investigating mechanisms of parasite immunomodulation of the host and how this can be exploited to develop anti-parasitic drug treatments and vaccines. As well as the University of Stirling, I have previously worked in research groups at the Moredun Research Institute and the University of Strathclyde, and have worked with a variety of collaborators including Zoetis, DEFRA, and Innovate UK. I have also enhanced my scientific communication skills through several years of working as a medical writer, producing a broad range of scientific publications and other outputs.
