Biography
I am a research expert specialized in animal gut health, with extensive experience in both industry and academia. My primary focus is on improving animal health and welfare by reducing the incidence and severity of endemic infections in pigs, poultry, and cattle.
Currently, I work as Lead Healthy Livestock at Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR) in the Netherlands. WBVR, part of Wageningen University and Research, is a contract research organization dedicated to fostering a society where animals and humans live healthy lives. Our mission is achieved through scientific research aimed at preventing the spread of infectious animal diseases and promoting health. WBVR has state-of-the-art facilities for animal experiments across various biosafety levels, as well as outstanding laboratory and computational research capabilities.
Some of the key topics we are actively exploring include:
• The gut-lung axis and its implications for health
• The role of the microbiome in overall health and disease resistance
• Immune development and its connection to early-life interventions
• Respiratory infections and novel prevention strategies
• Antimicrobial resistance and innovative solutions for its mitigation
• Foodborne pathogens and their control
• Vector-borne diseases and their management
• Development of advanced organoid models for research
• Diagnostic tool development and validation
• Vaccin development and validation
