Biography

I am a postdoc at Queensland University in the Aquatic Animal Health lab of Dr Andrew Barnes, currently working on an autogenous vaccine against nodavirus in farmed grouper. I recently completed my PhD in Spain, developing recombinant protein nanoparticles as a vaccine strategy against farmed fish viral diseases at the Institute for Biotechnology and Biomedicine, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Prior to this I have worked on the immunogenicity of adeno-associated viral vectors (AAVs) for human gene therapy. Overall, the common theme is viruses!

Research interests

Vaccine strategies for viral diseases in farmed fish. Nanomaterials. Diagnostic tools in aquaculture. Epidemiology

Projects you're working on

Development of autogenous vaccine against betanodavirus in farmed grouper in Queensland, Australia. Project is currently at field trial stage, setting up tests for correlates of protection and monitoring survival of vaccinated versus non-vaccinated fish during natural outbreaks.
