LATRE DE LATE
Originally from Gabon and being a French citizen, Perle studied in France obtaining a BSc and an MSc(1) Cell Biology and Physiology from the University of Sciences and Technologies of Lille, an MSc(2) Biology and Therapeutic Functions (with specialization in immunology) from the University of Paris XI and her PhD in molecular and cellular biology. For nearly 4 years, she worked in the development, function and pathology of the adrenal cortex at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (Nice, France). Her project aimed to uncover the critical role of overexpression of the transcription factor SF-1 and its target genes in the pathogenesis of adrenocortical tumors. Further, Dr. Latre de Late had the opportunity to work on host-pathogen interactions of Theileria annulata for 3 years at the Cochin Institute (Paris), in the laboratory of Gordon Langsley. She was appointed as a post-doctoral cell biologist in the Animal Genetics, Animal Biosciences program for 4 years at International Livestock Research Institute (Kenya). Her studies dealt with the understanding of the mechanism(s) of tolerance to Theileria parva in cattle, for a better control of East Coast fever. Currently, she works as a post-doctoral associate where her research focuses on the rickettsial diseases, more specifically on the development of vaccines.
