Ogugua is the head of the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He has published extensively on zoonotic diseases and food hygiene. His interest is on undertaking research to contribute to the discovery of vaccine for trypanosomiasis and the treatment of drug resistant tuberculosis.
