Houaga
I hold an MSc in animal health and production from the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin Republic and a PhD in molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation in Kenya. I have 2 years postdoctoral experience in animal breeding and genetics.
My current research interests include animal quantitative genetics, genomics, breeding and capacity building in low and middle income countries.
I'm currently working on genomic diversity and signature of selection in Sahelian sheep from Benin Republic using high density SNP markers and whole genome sequencing. The samples are ready for genotyping and sequencing. I'm also developing breeding strategies for African dairy cattle breeds. These trainings will help me in the data analysis process and will improve my skills in science communication to stakeholders and lay audiences.
