Biography

Dr Judith Atela is a lecturer in the Department of Animal Production, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi, Kenya, Email: Judithatela@uonbi.ac.ke Judith is Kenyan, holds a BSc. Animal Production, MSc. Agricultural Education and Ph.D. Animal Sciences awarded by Egerton University. Her Ph.D. research was sponsored by NACOSTI, OWSD, Ruforum-Carnegie, and Egerton University Research Division. Judith has 22 years of teaching experience with the Teachers Service Commission and 7 years of teaching experience in animal science modules in several universities in Kenya and Northwest University, South Africa. Her research interests are on “Potential of Essential oils and probiotics in poultry nutrition.”

Research interests

Research interest on The potential of feed additives such as probiotics and essential oils in poultry nutrition as modern biotechnology tools in poultry nutrition, as alternatives to Antibiotic Growth Promoters, to enhance growth performance, carcass characteristics, gut health, eggs and meat quality in poultry for sustainable production and welfare.
