Biography
Lamyaa Al-Dalawi earned a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Medicine and Science and later completed a master’s degree in Internal and Preventive Medicine at the Veterinary College. In 2014, she was awarded a scholarship to pursue a PhD in Veterinary Medicine and Science at the University of Nottingham, where her research focused on exploring the antiviral potential of exogenous phospholipids against influenza A viruses in vitro. In 2020, she joined the SVMS as a postdoctoral research fellow, with her work centered on antiviral therapies targeting RNA viruses, including influenza virus, SARS-CoV-2, and Zika virus. Currently, she contributes to the Flu-Map project, which investigates the animal health risks associated with emerging H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses.
Research interests
My research interests focus on the study of RNA viruses and the development of antiviral therapies. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the mechanisms of viral infections, including influenza viruses, SARS-CoV-2, and Zika virus, and exploring potential antiviral strategies.
