Namrah Ishtiaq is a dedicated Mphil microbiology student at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences(UVAS), Lahore. Having her BS. Applied microbiology degree from the same institution. Namrah has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to research in the field of microbiology. She is passionate about learning and practicing better ways to improve animal and human health. She worked as a volunteer in testing of COVID-19 human suspected samples provided by the health department of government in times of pandemic and awarded with certificate of appreciation for this contribution. She has done her BS. final semester research project entitled “Detection of SARS-CoV-2 From High-Touch Surfaces of Public Places.” Namrah Ishtiaq is currently working in the “flow cytometry lab” in UVAS, engaging in flow cytometry of poultry and bovine immune cells for research studies. She is doing her research entitled “Flow cytometric study of In-vitro interaction of Salmonella Enteritidis with poultry CD8+ and CD4+ T cells”. Her lab is the first to standardize flow cytometry assays for immune cell profiling. She published an abstract of her initial research optimization experiments in “4th One Health International Conference” held in November 2022 at UVAS, Jhang. She participated in one-day training work shop on “immunephenotyping of Poultry Immune Cells for vaccine research using flow cytometry” conducted by institute of microbiology, UVAS.
My research interests lie in the field of microbiology. I am fascinated by the intricate interplay of immune cells in providing defense. My future goal is to learn and research more about immunology to develop effective vaccine strategies to combat diseases. Broadly my areas of interests are microbiology, immunology, virology, bacteriology, vaccinology.
I am currently working on my thesis entitled “Flow cytometric study of In-vitro interaction of Salmonella Enteritidis with poultry CD8+ and CD4+ T cells”. I am also working in flow cytometry lab in my university and involved in flow cytometry for immunophenotyping of bovine T cells in vaccine trials.
