Biography

I was born in 1977 at Nazareth, Ethiopia. Although I am currently working and working in Norway, I still hold an Ethiopian Passport. I received my first degree (in veterinary medicine) and second degree (in veterinary epidemiology) from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.

In 2014, I got a PhD scholarship at UiT- the arctic University of Norway and continued my PhD work on 'Characterization of Atlantic salmon B cells and B cell responses from different immune sites after vaccination and challenge.' Right after completion of my PhD, I got a job as a senior laboratory engineer and continued working for the group that offered me the PhD position for two years. Recently, I have a researcher position at the university and working on a project that aims at profiling B cell responses in Atlantic salmon to virus infections. This project employs next generation sequencing tools (e.g. RNAseq and ATACseq) to generate knowledge on Atlantic salmon B cells.
