Biography

Since 2010, I am head of the Division of Viral Diseases in humans at Sciensano, Brussels (Belgian national research institute of human and animal health). We integrate several national reference laboratories for medical microbiology, including the Belgian National Reference Centre for Influenza, Hepatitis Viruses B, C, D and E, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Rabies and Human Papillomavirus. In 2012, I was nominated as the Belgian National Microbiology Focal Point for the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC, Stockholm). I participate in the ECDC EUPHEM fellowship program as main supervisor at Sciensano. Since 2014, I am appointed as visiting professor at Ghent University.

Rabies, influenza, hepatitis E, viral diseases, zoonosis, emerging viruses, virus pathogenesis, vaccination-challenge trials
