Biography
I am an Ethiopian lady who has been working on biomedical science research specially focusing on human health. My biomedical science research work experience at Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) on infectious agents including TB, other bacterial infectious agents and viral agents have given me exposures to the wet lab work both at local and International levels. Data generated from the research work are all published on peer reviewed Journals. wudemihret - Search Results - PubMed (nih.gov). I have been involved in the field of education for years instructing BSc, MSc, and PhD students with biological science lecture and biomedical science research lab works respectively. I have also been involved in directing, and coordinating research works, training students and research staff with research methodology and proposal writing methods. I have achieved my PhD degree (September 2012 to July 2017) from Addis Ababa University, Department of Microbial Cellular and Molecular Biology. The topic of my PhD study was “Etiology, Disease Severity and Diagnostic Challenges of Bacterial Meningitis during Non-epidemic Seasons in Ethiopia”. The results of my PhD study research focusing on frequent bacterial meningitis etiologies such as Neisseria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumofrmans and Haemophilus influenzae has became a very good resource for developing vaccine related policy brief which was submitted to the MoH of Ethiopia. The research was carried out in collaboration with Armauer Hansen Research Institute, Addis Ababa University Department of Microbial Cellular and Molecular Biology and Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) as well as Oslo University (Norway).
Research interests
Molecular Biology, Immunology/vaccinology and Biochemical tests of infectious pathogens including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, other bacterial and viral pathogens of humans and those with zoonotic values.
