About the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC)
IGSTC is a joint initiative by the Department of Science & Technology (DST),Government of India and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Government of Germany was established to facilitate Indo-German R&D networking through substantive interactions among government, academia/research system and industries, thus fostering innovation for overall economic and societal developments in both the countries.
About the Workshop
The workshop on 'Challenges and New Opportunities in Vaccine Development for Aquaculture (IMAQUAVAC)' is being organised by the Centre of Excellence for Aquatic Vaccine Development (Cochin University of Science and Technology, India) in association with the University of Veterinary Medicine (Germany). The centre specialises in upgrading aquatic animal health through the creation, evaluation, and dissemination of vaccines for fishes, and plays a critical role in addressing the unique challenges faced in aquaculture by focusing on innovative solutions to prevent and manage diseases in aquaculture.
Objectives of the Workshop
- To build international and national networking with the world’s leading scientists, professors, and industrialists in the field of vaccine research and development.
- Exposure to cutting‑edge research and innovation in vaccine research.
- Dissemination of scientific knowledge and capacity building - an opportunity for speed science encompassing networking and socialising to empower Early Career Researchers (ECRs).
- Opening up of potential PhD, PDF positions in world‑class research laboratories.
- Facilitating laboratory exchange/training and Sandwich PhD programmes with the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa, and Taiwan.
Apply for International Veterinary Vaccinology Network's (IVVN) Travel Bursary
We are pleased to announce that IVVN is offering four travel bursaries for individuals attending this workshop. Each bursary will cover expenses up to a maximum of £1500 per recipient.
Travel bursaries are available to:
- Early Career Researchers (MSc students, PhD students or Post-Doctoral Researchers (5 years post-PhD excluding career breaks).
- Researchers based at research organisations in LMICs (all countries listed here are LMIC countries

Please note, applicants for a travel bursary must:
- Complete the application form in full.
- Submit an abstract for the meeting/workshop and be prepared to give present a talk or poster.
- Be members of the IVVN. Membership is free and you can register here.
- Provide a post-workshop report to IVVN.
- Be willing to work with IVVN as a case study for travel bursary awardee.
