About the Role

The School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in artificial intelligence (AI) to advance comparative biomedical sciences and clinical veterinary medicine. They aim to build on existing strengths and foster collaborative opportunities across schools and colleges at UW-Madison to pioneer AI in veterinary medicine and to develop technologies that impact other health sciences. This position complements campus efforts through the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE)-AI initiative designed to help address significant, complex challenges and opportunities in AI through accelerated and strategic faculty hiring, research infrastructure enhancement, interdisciplinary collaboration and increased student and educational opportunities.

Education Required

  • Terminal Degree
  • PhD, DVM/VMD, MD or equivalent in veterinary medicine, animal sciences, biomedical sciences, computational sciences, or a closely related field by the start date of this position.

Qualifications Required

  • Demonstrated expertise in AI/ML applications of veterinary relevance.
  • Outstanding academic record, demonstrated potential for impactful research, and commitment to high-quality, inclusive instruction and mentoring.
  • Strong background in AI-driven approaches for diagnostics, treatment, animal welfare, or disease prevention and syndromic surveillance in the veterinary context.
