The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac) is inviting applications for the position of Director of Vaccine Development.

VIDO-InterVac is one of Canada’s largest research organizations focused on infectious diseases of humans and animals. The organization has currently >150 staff and some of the most advanced infrastructure in the world, including the International Vaccine Centre (InterVac), one of the largest high containment facilities in the world. As part of its renewed vision to drive innovation and deliver solutions to its stakeholders, the organization is currently adding a vaccine development group to take technologies from early discovery all the way to GMP manufacturing. The vaccine development group will be responsible for proof-of-concept, process development and optimization, assay development, quality analysis and control, regulatory and manufacturing. Reporting to the CEO and as part of the Senior Leadership team, the Director of Vaccine Development will oversee all activities within the vaccine development group. In addition, the position oversees all contract research activities of the organization, which are supported by an effective team of project managers.

We are looking for an outstanding individual with experience in human or animal vaccine development and who is interested in the unique opportunity of establishing a vaccine development group in a non-commercial research environment that is driven by passion and innovation. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent leadership skills, work well in a team environment, and have demonstrated excellence in taking products from early research into commercial development. A degree in a relevant field and 5-8 years of experience in vaccine development is required.
